Post by ponsw33 »

I have 5 Motorola PRo3100, that have been storage for a long period of time , more or less 2 years. Last friday i try to program the radios and they wont turn on, neither i can read them. I have other with the same model that are working oK....Its this a comon problem with this radio? Can i copy the code plug from a working radio?

Thanks...

What radios do you own?: Motorola/Kenwood

when you say it won't turn on, are you sure the batteries are good? Did they have this problem before storing them? Are the battery contacts clean?
Light travels faster than sound. This is why some people appear bright until you hear them speak.

I don't think that batteries should be an issue, I believe that the Pro-3100 is the over-seas version of the CDM750. Try checking the fusing in the power cable. Although they don't really go bad over shelf-time at all, it's just another thing to check. Seems odd that they won't power up, however.

Also - You would not be able to Clone, Read, Write, or otherwise further edit any internal 'software based' configuration(s) of the radio without power to it, or the radio being unable to power up.

Yes ray youre correct, the Pro3100 is a mobile radio, not a portable radio.
All the radio have been storage in working condition, and as i mentioned the radios are brand new, the fuse is not and issue cause im using the test bench cable. This radio use and electronic swicht control , the power swicht on the front only send a comand to start the radio. The internal fuse is ok, and i believe this should be a problem with the eprom or something like that. I have check the inition swicht pin #10 and it wont start neither. I have replace the front panel with a working radio and it wont start. I really dont understand what can happen that only 2 of 7 radios ordered in the same time are working.

Open the radio, and make sure there is not a small Lithium battery that has gone dead. The HT1250 and other waris radios have batteries that do go bad. Just an idea......

This EEPROM problem caused a lots of problem here in Brazil, especially in the first 3 years of the production of the PRO series.
you will have to send it to Motorola. Here in Brazil they chenge the EEPROM and the flash memory for 100.

Where are you located... If you are in a Latin Country I can give you a couple dealers to call up.
