Radio Inhibit
Hello guys,
Do we have Radio Inhibit function(ability to send it) in HT1250 or HT1550 radios?
Thanks
Sergey

the other day while being in scan mode {trunking system} my radio got inhibited. screen went black etc.
i read the radio and it told me that it was inhibitid by dispatch
i re-programed the radio.
now it will work good on reicive mode but it will not transmit in conventional or trunking
any ideas? i was told i need a s-record?
please shed me some light

if the system administrator inhibited your radio then it's not authorized to be on that system and they are going to keep inhibiting it and they are eventually going to find you. get a scanner.

I never check PM's so don't bother, just email me.

again you're avoiding the question, are you supposed to be on that system, yes or no? if yes take it to the system administrator and have them program it. the same console that inhibited it can re activate it. if not, get a scanner.

First and only warning....
PLEASE KEEP THE THREAD CIVIL OR IT WILL GET LOCKED
For deadastro, your radio is screwed. Its now an ebay parts radio. As explaned in the other thread, only the system adminstrator can properly uninhibit a radio.
Not to be too mean, but obviosuly you don't know how to properly program a trunked radio....and you paid the price for it. In addition, its pretty obvious that you are not authorized to be on that TRS, in a TX or RX kind of way, so I doubt you will find any help in fixing your radio just so you can do it again.
With memebers here, and the current doings of Motorola, its a liability for people how to aquire/use/ and potentionally do damage to a public safety communications system. Nevermind that fact that affliating to one is a computer crime in most states.
With all that being said, do a search on the board with the keyword inhibited and also with affiation. It will bring up quite a bit of scary information.
With that, back to our regualarly scheduled thread about how to send an inhibit command....
Sergey:
9 out of 10 times this is a function of the console. There are a couple of 3rd party MDC1200 encoders/decoders that can also send this. They are advertised in the usual trade rags. Most of the MDC enabled field radios from 1994ish (astros, HT's, CDM's etc) have the option of enabling or disabling this feature via RSS/CPS. However in a trunked system this does not apply. If the radio gets zapped, its toast.

Lowband radio. The original and non-complicated wide area interoperable communications system
Just to put a fine tune on this:
There are two types of radio inhibit, and they don't bear much relation to one another. In analog, non-trunked systems, a radio is inhibit by sending, over the proper frequency, an MDC word that includes the MDC ID of the radio to be inhibited and the inhibit command code. This can be reversed by sending, over the same frequency, an MDC word that includes the MDC ID of the radio to be restored and the MDC restore command code. Generally, but not exactly, only radio dispatch consoles properly programmed therefor can send MDC inhibit and restore commands.
In a trunked system, MDC plays no role. The commands, both inhibit and restore, are send as part of the OSW (outbound service word) over the output side of the current control channel. In general terms, only the trunked system operator has access to the control channel frequency and only the trunked system operator's system controller can generate the radio inhibit or restore commands.
Long-winded response, perhaps, but the bottom line is about the same: absent some really esoteric lab-grade equipment, to which you don't have access, only the administrator of the trunked system you were listening to can restore your radio.

How ??DEADASTRO wrote:i got my radio out of inhibit mode
it works again, tx and rx
thanks all for your help. oh and thanks for you who tried to scare me away
Obviously you figured something out that the rest haven't or won't share.
And for those who are still stuck like you were, ... how did you do it ??
You can bring an Astro Saber or XTS3000 (or MCS/MTS) back to life from an inhibit simply by cloning in a known good codeplug image of the radio from before it was hit. Simple enough.
It gets trickier with units programmed with the latest CPS versions, as they have been written to not allow this. I'm still unsure if a radio which has been written with newer CPS can be brought back to life by using older CPS or RSS with a good codeplug...my gut feeling is 'yes', but I haven't had a chance to try it.
I have never seen an instance where writing a good codeplug into the radio resulted in bringing it back to life, but causing it not to transmit. I suspect deadastro either had another issue altogether, or he used LAB to force a codeplug in (which also works to correct an inhibit), then didn't re-tune the radio afterwards.
