Some newbie questions

Post by N2YP »

What is the difference between a "personality " file and the file that saved the codeplug data (Channels etc). Is setup.mot a generic personality file?

I havent figured the terminology yet. I am refering to an HT1000 H01RDC9AA3DN

Hi:

In simple terms [ The Code ] Plug is that which
helps the radio determine what frequencies, PL/DPL
Tones and other functions the radio may have.

It also contains a [ Image ] of the primary code
plug of the radio ( which in the majority of the cases )
can not be changed by the user...

That is such items like the Model Number / Serial Number
of the radio. Most Motorola radios have been hacked one
way ot the other to [ Extend ] or add features.

Once a Radio has been hacked, sometimes Motorola
will not longer have anything to do with the Radio...But
like Most of their earlier radios, they don't support them
anyway, so you do not have to worry about it all
that much

Anyhow, many perosns ( 100's _ of them have been
modifying Code Plugs for the radio to serve their needs.
