Trunking ISW and OSW

Post by Kevin212 »

I am having problems with my Astro Saber II on a type II smartnet 800 system. It has been programmed and the programming is fine. I could not get it to transmit or recieve on the trunking system. Conventional works fine. I adjusted the ISW value using the CPS and set it to the default FF20. The radio will now transmit, gives me the talk tone, but still no receive. Will adjusting the OSW value help the receive problem?? I dont fully understand ISW and OSW, but ISW seemed to deal with transmtting and OSW with receiving. Is this true? Any help would be great. Also if anybody has an idea on how to put me in the ballpark for proper ISW and OSW settings that would be great. On a side note the MTS2000 radios that are on the same system are showing ISW value of 41. When I put this value in the Saber I get nothing.

ISW = Inbound Signalling Word. The radio is transmitting data to the controller.

OSW = Outbound Signalling Word. The controller is transmitting data to the radio.

OK thanks, I was on the right page then. Do you know is it possible to have the ISW set right and the OSW wrong and cause the problems I'm having?

Am not sure this have to do with it.... I had problems before with my radio on trunk... is your a 512k or a 1 meg radio... mine was a 512 before and I did not like trunking at all....

Something to consider if you can't figure it out at the end.
