MTS1200 - programming / flashing
I have recently acquired an MTS1200 (no typo!!)
It looks like a MTS2000, GP1200 etc with a front facing LCD and keypad.
The model number is H01RDH9CL7AN . Its an MPT1327 trunking set.
I have checked the Batlabs archives and there is NO mention of this radio at all. I also did an internet search and there is very little mention other than under battery types/accessories where the MTS1200 is listed along with the MT2000 , MTS2000, MTX838 etc.
I have a few questions:
- which version of RSS is used to program an MTS1200? (ie is it standard "MTSX" RSS?)
- is it possible to program some conventional channels into the MTS1200 (ie similar to the GP1200 trunking set)
- is it possible to flash an MTS1200 into an MT2100? - as you can do with the trunking GP1200 radio?
Thanks

Sorry, I don't have any pictures - but it looks just like an MTS2000 or GP1200. It has a front facing LCD with a keypad. The numbers/letters on the keypad seem similar to the MTS2000 except the bottom 3 keys - which comprise a left pointing arrow , the letter "D" and the letter "S" reading left to right.
Re. codeplug - I have not yet established which RSS I need to read the codeplug. Do you know? You are very welcome to a copy once I can extract it using the correct RSS.

Any thoughts on which RSS I need to use with an MTX1200 MPT1327 trunking radio?
I tried the DOS and Windows "1200 series" RSS which is designed for the GP1200/GM1200. With both versions, the RSS came up with "wrong codeplug/model number".
There is a small difference between the model number of a GP1200 and my MTX1200 ie H01....CK... for the GP1200 and H01....CL.... for the MTX1200. So
GP1200 = H01RDH9CK7AN
MTX1200= H01RDH9CL7AN
The "CK" stands for MPT1327 public while the "CL" stands for MPT1327 private.
Thanks

Hi Andreas,
I used version R00.01.10 (dated 28 Nov 96) of the Windows RSS.
Which version is the latest version?
I don't need trunking mode. I have seen the modified RIB circuit diagram. I understand the difference between the "standard" and the "modified" RIB is a few switches and links (I think).
I would be grateful for a simple guide to modifying my "real" Motorola standard RIB ie like "step 1 - insert a switch between......". I don't want to make a mistake in interpreting the circuit diagram!!
Thanks.

The "modified" RIB, http://www.batlabs.com/images/rib_mod.jpgg8tzl2004 wrote:Hi Andreas,

is to correct for the mismatch of the RIB and most computers, the (stock/un moded) RIB does not match the RS232 standard.
In the later RIB Motorola added a switch and an internal 9 volt battery. But still did not correct the RS232 mismatch.
I have used the wrong term!! What I am after is the mod to convert a "real" standard RIB into a "flash" capable RIB to be used in converting a GP1200/MTS1200 into an MT2100.
What I need is some simple instructions for modding a standard RIB into a "flash" capable RIB. I might make a mistake in interpreting the flash RIB circuit diagram!!
Thanks

Is it possible to build the switching in the "RIB to radio" wiring lead - so that I do not have to mod my original Motorola RIB? I am a bit reluctant to mess with my real expensive RIB!!
Also, the Batlabs UniRIB is version 2 (with 3 switches) while your website is version 3.1 (with 4 switches). If I want to flash a GP1200 into an MT2100 , how many switches do I actually need?
Thanks

I tried the lastest version of the 1200 Windows RSS (version R00.01.15) 24 Sept 1997 EVN4656B.
The RSS read the MTS1200 codeplug but at the end of the upload , the following message appeared : "Unexpected block type found" and the upload aborted. The MTS1200 had "CSQ" on the LCD display. I had to disconnect the battery to remove the "CSQ" and get the normal trunking display back.
Any thoughts?
Thanks
