Astro Spectra VOCON question

Post by hamptonbeach »

I got my hands on a A/S VOCON board HLN6458G and I plugged it into my VHF A/S so I could read the codeplug.

It read out as an 800mhz radio
Is there anyway I can make this work?

Make what work?

You read the contents but what are you trying to do? I don't get it. What's the goal?

It's not possible to dump a VHF codeplug into it, is it?

You can force one in if you know what you are doing. Options should match the host.dsp though, ie dont dump a imbe flash into an analog only vocon.

OK, I know just enough to be dangerous.

If I try to write a codeplug from another radio, the CPS will whine about serial number mismatch.

Can I drag-n-drop the VHF personality list and write it?
I think it will whine about frequency being out of range, but it will write, wont it?
Then will it work?

Put it this way, can I do any damage to the rest of the radio?
I dont want to end up with a brick ...

Your not going to do anything with it if you don't have the correct dos software for it. You will need to get out your lab coat, thats a hint btw.
