XTS3000 Soft ID display question

Post by RTFireguy »

I currently have an XTS3k 450-520.

R05.52.08
DSP 06.06.12

599108-1F4600-0

The question I'm haing trouble with is, Does the XTS decode Soft ID's? and if so how can i get it to set up. Currently I can see the Digital ID (Radio Number) of the other Radio but it doesn't show the Soft ID nor does it transmit mine.

any info would be great.

Your firmware is probably too old.

When I first got my UHF XTS3000, it had R05.60.00.

I tried to get soft ID to work between my unit and a friend's with similar firmware - no go.

I can tell you that soft ID does work with firmware versions in the 7.xx range. - it is pretty cool. You push the "PROG" soft key on the radio then scroll across "PHON", "CALL", " PAGE", until you get to "ID". Then you can keypad in whatever you want. Press the purple side button to enter your new "ID" or whatever you want to say "HI BOZO" or "BEER RUN"

This feature was intended for use where the radio is assigned to a function and the person carrying it changes when the shift changes. That way radio hard ID # 1234 can be assigned to "1 ADAM 12" and when the nite shift comes on the soft ID can say "MALLOY" or "REED"

The LAPD guys found that function. Lots of interesting soft ID's floating around.
Lowband radio. The original and non-complicated wide area interoperable communications system
