No ID being displayed in ASTRO mode (repeated)
An agency in my neck of the woods upgraded to an ASTRO system. They are running some sort of conventional/multiple site multicast system. Still haven't figured it all out yet.
Either way, none of their radios appear to be transmitting an ID, or its being stripped somewhere. I have never seen that. Display ID works from my radio (simplex/same freq/settings) but none of their stuff shows up. Never seen an IU stripped off before with an ASTRO system. I've seen it in a conventional system, but not ASTRO.
Any thoughts?

I think the point he's trying to make, as am I in my situation is that the radio decodes NO ID, even with ID display enabled and supported, the received audio shows no radio ID at all. Not even the decimal value, nothing at all... the display continues to show the alias for the mode, and that's all.

Unless there is some secret menu item that I haven't seen, in the ASTRO Conventional mode, there isn't an option to turn off the ID. One of the P25? or Motorola selling points is that the ID is continuously transmitted.

I will...on Thursday if all goes good.
However, that does not explain why I get digital ID's when I set various Astros to different NAC's and a couple of other ASTRO systems that do not use 293 as the NAC while in DCSQ.

Can you clarify this statement please? it makes very little sense at the moment.Pj wrote:I will...on Thursday if all goes good.

ASTROs running different NACs wont communicate at all, let alone display IDs.
As for not using 293 while in DSQ mode, thats not a problem - as long as you have the corrent NAC in, you will decode IDs. Wrong NAC = No ID's.

I'm still not sure what you mean by no NAC, no ID. Barrie Police here in Ontario use VHF P25 Conventional. When I listen to them on my AS3 or on an Astro Spectra, it shows Digital ID's, and I don't have any NAC programmed in (using Digital CSQ). Likewise, when I talk from one radio to another using P25 Simplex, both radio using DCSQ, I see the SoftIDs.
Is it maybe a firmware thing that prevents you from viewing the IDs without the correct NAC?

Well, I went playing yesterday, and this is what I did.
Properly optioned Astro Spectra, display ID enabled, set for DCSQ with a NAC of 165.
Similar Astro Spectra, TX with a NAC of 120
XTS5k TX with a NAC of 5BE.
Astro Spectra #1 displays the ID's of Astro Spectra #2 and the XTS5k conventional/simplex. Likewise, #2 displays the ID of #1 and the XTS. None display the ID of the ASTRO system in question. I also tried the F7E NAC on #1, no change.
You figure it out
