Astro Spectra question.

Post by N4DES »

I picked up a VHF Astro Spectra off of EBay and as I expected YMMV as to
whether it works or not, well this is what I have:

It's cabled up correctly and seems to be in tact but I haven't popped the covers. Upon depressing the PWR button the display lights and goes thru its self test. Then the display blanks out and acts like it's dead, except when you press the dim, volume, or monitor button. Those actions light up the display and seem to act normally as well as sending it into self test.
Also the mic PTT does nothing.

I haven't read the codeplug as of yet to see what features are or are not turned on and the beginning of the model is D04KKF9.

Any hints before I go too far on this as the seller advised that it was "operational".

Thanks
Mark

maybe the programming on the codplug is screw up somewhere... usually happens... only way to find out is just read the radio and start fresh from the beginging.

Well, its lights up so it IS operational Mark!

If could be as simple as someone not programming in mode names and disabling tones. That happened to me on ASTRO that I picked up. I was rather ticked until I read it with CPS. Then life was better.

Thanks for the responses, I'll take it into the shop today and take a look at the codeplug. I'll post the findings or any additional questions later on.
