Calling all Houston Tx. area "bats"

Post by phrawg »

Anybody for a get together sometime this fall in the Houston Tx.
area ? Maybe a Sat morning breakfast gathering or something like
that. Something that might even develop onto a regular thing
say maybe quarterly or semi-anuual. Maybe even have our own
little swap etc aside from the ham meets. Kinda a more techie
type gathering. ok Its up to you all. Let's not all answer at once.
I would be glad to help coordinate. Let me know. Phrawg

There's what, two or three of us? I think it's time some of the Dallas guys started coming down here for a change (VX, tvsjr, I'm looking at you).

I'm down, but I'm more of a lunch/dinner guy. Breakfast requires waking up early, which is not something I do without being paid to do so. I am also good for location recommendations, but only on the northwest or southeast sides of town. I try to avoid the westside just on general principles.

I'm up for a get together type of affair. I am not sure about Saturday morning though; could interfere with my duck hunting schedule, and I imagine others have similar must attend types of events at that time as well. I will go ahead and second the dinner vote for any day or perhaps lunch on a Saturday. I live way west of town (Fulshear), so I would personally prefer something in the western half of the city. Let's get a few more location and time votes, then we can decide on something.

Great, I think there is more than just 2 or 3. We are here already
and I can think of a few more I know. Ok we will keep this
subject floating near the surface for a while and see who comes
out of the woodwork. Thanks guys. I live just east of downtown
so I could go most anywhere. Phrawg

Haha, I'm sorry. Must be nice and quiet out there, though.

Deep East End, eh? You could probably get into my GMRS machine out that way.. in fact, I know you could, because it works mobile all the way into downtown. .575 (69.3), if you're so inclined (or anyone else here, for that matter).

Yes, it is very quiet, and it doesn't stink like Pasadena! I can still hit the Downtown STARNET site, so I'm not that unattached.

Brenham has a hamfest? The turnout must be spectacular.

I'm still down for a meet. In fact, it's come up on the Hamsexy forum too, so we might think about putting together a joint event or something.

I'm completely flexible on date/time and location, but I was thinking maybe someplace on the northwest side of town to make it easy on JohnWayne and anyone who might want to come down from Dallas.

well I was more thinking about just a bat meeting rather than
a ham meeting. Yes Brenham has one. it was 2 weeks ago.
I was there. just a small social gathering really but I picked
up a few small things. I had been wondering if anyone would
bring back up the subject. Ok, lets work on it. Phrawg

I'm in....anytime, anyplace. Let's see if we have a few other Houston area people floating around the board that may want to show up ad see if we can confirm a good time and place.

Sounds good to me, a Batboard meeting as opposed to ham meeting. I havent been to a hamfest in a long time. I like keeping my sense of smell. Northwest Houston would be fine, as I am not but 45 min from there.

I think you misunderstand. Most of the guys "over there" who would be up for a meet are members over here too.

No problem with that. What I am saying is the attendees
of such are to be bat members. If they happen to be hams
also then so be it. I am a ham also but would like to have a
/\/\ oriented gathering. Makes for a bit more professional
atmosphere.
