Remote control of Quantar over fiber

Post by kirwin »

I am researching controlling a Quantar base over fiber as opposed to copper, anyone had any experience with this? Is it do-able, if so what do I need, and can this sit on my IP-based LAN?

I'm not sure I understand the issue, but we have several Quantars that are remotely controlled using consoles with channel cards functioning as 4W TRC remotes. These are connected to the radio via audio channels muxed over fiber and it works just fine. The only issue is training techs not to be shocked when seeing that line loss is zero (the copper length of the connection is under 10 feet!).

I suspect there is more to your question, but it's been a long day and I must have missed it.
