Trunked Maxtrac (Type I)! Listen and say your opinion!
And other question:
When I toglee PTT (by pressing F6) in ALIGMENT MENU > TX POWER, D45MQA5GB5 Maxtrac sounds on 825.1625 MHz (default RSS test frequency) with some chirp at begin of transmittion and at the end of transmittion.
Download and listen MP3 file with recorded chirps
D35MQA5GB5 Maxtrac sounds without any chirps - just clear carrier and nothing!
This is normally or not?
And why???

What does it sound like when you key it up with just the microphone? (not RSS)
And a D35 is identical to a D45 except for the 45 has the higher power PA unit on the back.
It is most likely that when in the service screens, the radio does not know where it is going to transmit like it would in normal operation. ie it doesn't have the tuning info etc yet and it takes a bit to get locked on.

Each radio is a little different even though they are the same.
The components that affect the VCOs etc have tolerances.
That is why they have the complete tuning procedure.
Your radio that "chirps" may just be the VCO locking on because you are in the service screen, vs normal operation where the tuning data would be loaded already.

Did you go into the service, board replacement, logic board (F2,F6,F2) and enter the xtal, sticker,voltage numbers, check power, then inject a tone and watch the deviation etc on a SERVICE MONITOR?... IE the COMPLETE alignment?
If so, you will learn more how the radio behaves.
When you are in the service screens, the RSS has control of the radio and it acts differently. It is called an anomaly.
I don't understand why the "chirp" is bothering you!
If it works normally after you tune it up, you are done.

It's also possible that you were in the test frequency list, and it uses a variety of signalling schemes to properly align CSQ, TPL, DPL, OSW/ISW and so on.
You may notice the TX channel will never coincide with the RX channel due to the offset, but keying the mic rapidly may jump to the next test frequency within the internal list.
It's been a while since I've serviced 'Tracs..so I'm getting rusty.

This is conflicting with you theory.
825 MHz - this is valid RX freq. But chirp appears at TX! But this radio NOT designed for TX on below freq split (806-825)! May be reason here!!!KH wrote:I think its on the verge of out of lock on that freq.
