Post by cw2211 »

It's been a while since i dealt with sabers, but i seem to remember there was a limit to the number of individual pl tones that could be programmed into 1 radio.
can anyone advise?

Well, if I remember correctly, There is no limit as long as they are
entered into each individual personality or mode. BUT, if you have
a saber of the more advanced types that have multiple user
selectable pl codes from a table, I believe the number of codes
in that table is limited to 16. Sure seems like /\/\ in it's anything
but infinite wisdom sure likes that number 16. Seems to be the
limit you can put in the scan list of most every radio they make.
Aggggggg. Of course I could totally wrong on this and I am
not sure about the astro saber. Never owned one. So if I am
someone please correct me. Phrawg

I recall with the Ht600/P200 you had to set up a PL table prior to entering it into a channel field, I'm thinking 3 ? Been a while since set up a Saber but I think that has a PL/DPL table as well. 32 max. in a Saber 3 ?

What radios do you own?: XTL, XTS, Saber, Spectra, MTS2

Max PL / DPL tones in a Saber

Post by dbusse »

Saber 1's - 8 unique tones, max. Saber II, III's, and Sys Sabers, the sky is the limit (actually, I am not sure about Sys Saber 1's...).

You can use all tones, but the list you select from can only store 8, but if you mix tones on TX and RX, then you can get 16 'different' tones..

IE: TX: 162.2/RX: 123.0 and so on...DPL included

Certain older vintage Sabers did have a PL limit, but later versions did not.

Saber Is can only have 12, as that's all the radio is capable of, and even then, it's a crap shoot.

Model IIs also had a limit, as 48 channels are all it has available, with NO sel. PL capabilities..

All 8K modules 'should' be capable of all PL tones, and this includes the 8 selectable T/R tones on the Sel. PL list.

Slilghtly off point, but Systems Sabers have an odd limit on what tones can be used: if PL 3B is used, then cannot have DPLs over 500-something.
