Engraving
Need someone to professionally engrave the front of 2 HT1000 cases. I am NOT looking for the hand do-it-yourself type, but something to match what we had when the radios were new.
Any recommendations??
Email please: jayg359@aol.com
thanks!

All BS aside, you can probably get it done by a local trophy shop. I've had it done that way with no complaints.

Mr. Goldmark -
We have gotten many devices engraved a variety of different ways. There are some local shops that do it and you can also send them to Motorola for engraving.
Motorola's engraving costs a little more, however, if your radios are intrinsically safe and FM approved...Motorola engraving is the only way to protect the warranty.
If they are not, the local shop is a good deal. I believe that one of your commissioners has been in contact with a local shop about system related matters. That shop has done engraving for us and I am sure they could assist.
Our old radios were engraved by the shop. The new ones are FM approved and were done at the factory by the bog M.
Feel free to contact me off-line is I may be of service to you.

Contact them through your dealer or you can call customer service 800-422-4210. They can send you the engraving ordering form. If you have MOL you can locate the engraving form in the service area of the resource center.
After completing the form and submitting, you can even get emailed a pic of a sample of your engraving on a dummy housing for your approval before the order is processed.
Needless to say you have some choices, for example, you can have white backfill as well as other colors. On our radios with yellow housings we got black colored backfill instead of white.

I never check PM's so don't bother, just email me.
I won't reply to a hotmail, gmail, aol or any other generic free address, if you want me to reply use a real address.
STOP ASKING ME FOR SOFTWARE OR FIRMWARE, I JUST FORWARD ALL OF THE REQUESTS TO THE MODERATORS

It's a purchase service item, so check in the resource center under the Depot Flat Rate Card (if you have access to it). This card can usually be found in the Services->Depot area. Be warned that /\/\ charges about $30 per radio (plus I believe you pay inbound shipping) for less than 10 units, so it may end up being more economical to go to someone local as the guy I go to only charges $20 apiece for onesy-twosies.Golden/\/\-2 wrote:I can never find anything on MOL, can someone tell me where I would find the engraving form?
Moto does some good engraving work, and does well with logo's if you go that route.
However, I must say I do not like the thickness/fill that they have been using for the past few years. Just seems...too thick (or deep?).
We got some XTS and new Centracom buttons at the same time, and they look nothing like the older more "natural" engraving from yesteryear. We haven't ordered lately that requires it, so maybe its a little different now.

Lowband radio. The original and non-complicated wide area interoperable communications system
The radios I have are FM approved and submersible, so there would be warranty issues I'm guessing.SFD_Radio wrote:Motorola's engraving costs a little more, however, if your radios are intrinsically safe and FM approved...Motorola engraving is the only way to protect the warranty.
