MT2000 codeplug "too new"

Post by N2YP »

I just picked up an mt2000 on ebay. When I tired to program it I get an error that says the codeplug is too new. Does this mean my RSS is too old? I have version R06.04 is there a later version? Or pehaps, the radio I bought is a lemon? Any thoughts or help is much appreciated

the latest dos rss version is 6.5. So they probably had a copy of that - and that's what they used to program it.

There's nothing wrong with the radio - you just need the latest / greatest version of the RSS to program it.

HI:

I was going to say something about radios on Ebay, but
I changed my mind.

Anyhow, you probably have a Old DOS Version which
is no longer supported.

DOS Version R06.05.00 has been listed Obsolete, and replaced
by a later Windows Version ( Called MTS Windows) and that
is R01.05.14 and that was as of September 2001

As far as your radio being a lemon, well, it could just
mean you have a very late model radio.....The Date Code
and Version # should be listed

Actually, I believe that the Windows CPS does not support the MT2000, just the MTS2000 series, it might also work for the MTX8000's, but I wouldn't hold my breath.

The latest version of the RSS that will program the MT2000 is R6.5

I believe Motorola will sell you the combo RSS for the MT/MTS/MTX series portables - that should come with RSS and CPS for that series. I don't have the price on it.

RPX4719G is the part number for the RSS, and the spreadsheet contains. Apparently if you order RVN4176J you get CPS 1.07.

That should help you out a bit.

The MTS2000 windows verison DOES NOT support MT2000. It will only do MTS2000 radios. The only way to get a MT2000 to work with the windows software is to upgrade it with MTSX lab.

Hi:

Although I missed the latest version ( as they do change )
the RVN4176(K) Version 1.08.00 DOES support the MT2000.
and even the MTS2000

I was just informed by the Depot there is also
a version RVN4097(P) which is the DOS VErsion.

Hopefully that will clarify the RSS issue.

If you need varification, you can call 1-800-422-4210
Hit # 3, then # 2, and give them the Exact Model Number
of your MT2000, and they can varify which Version RSS
is needed to program your radio.

Even we do not have the Ver 1.,08.00.

Is there a way to like clone from an previous code plug to be able to use the prior version RSS? I know I run into this quite often and others here do too and may not have the resources to get the latest and greatest RSS/CPS.

If you have an identical but older codeplug saved on the computer, then yes, you can overwrite the one that is on it. Been there, done that, pain in the butt.

eBay at it's finest:
Me: "What exactly is a 900Mhz UHF CB?"
Them: "A very nice CB at 900Mhz speed!"
