HT1550 MDC1200 Question???

Post by nick.dejohn »

I have a question for anyone familar with the MDC1200 protocol on the newer pro-series radios. I have a HT1550-XLS VHF. I utilize the MDC1200 feature on pre. I have the pre-tone set for 500 ms. When I press the TX key I get a decent pre-tone at the right length. Here's the question. If I were utilizing this radio in the LTR mode, when you press the TX key you have to wait to talk until you here the 2 short beeps. I want to know if you were to go into the HEX of the radio, could you change the pre-tone on the conventional side of the radio to do that same quick "beep-beep" as on the LTR side?

You mean, change the MDC sidetone to be the same as the trunking Talk Permit tone?

That would be a change in the firmware of the radio. Virtually impossible for anyone outside of Motorola to do.

Buy an HT1000, "DN" Model and you can program it to do a "Like" Talk Permit Tone with MDC1200. Sounds the same as TPT on my MTS2000 Trunking unit.
