Kenwood buys Zetron!

Post by wavetar »

Well, as the title says, Kenwood has purchased Zetron. That's quite the combination & it could spell trouble for Motorola.

I received the news in a Kenwood dealer bulletin, but there's also various articles about it on the web now:

Them: "A very nice CB at 900Mhz speed!"

trouble for Motorola? No, they're stupid enough to generate their own trouble.

What I think is, this is trouble for Zetron. They "made" some damn fine products. It's too bad that some bigshot like Kenwood--or anybody else, has to come in and screw things up.

It's another way that Asia is taking our jobs and money.

I wonder how long it will take for Kennywood to transfer production to asia so we can import it.

Well, I hope it remains here and remains a quality product. Both Kenwood and Zetron make great stuff so hopefully this will make it even better.

This makes me nervous. I've installed a lot of Zetron products, and besides making a very solid product, Zetron is a very responsive company to deal with. I have folks there who answer their own phones and will answer a question or .pdf me a document on the spot. Responsiveness is one of the early victims of being gobbled up by a larger, more impersonal enterprise.

Kenwood has always been responsive like that as well. I hope it stays that way or gets even better.

I have to agree with NMfire, Kenwood is a great company from my experience and from what I have heard. The only problem I have experienced with a kenwood product is with an old 280 that is having some firmware issues. I think they will be able to offer a good complete communications system for municipalities, in the style mother m has in the past.
