ASTRO SABER III, Menu Buttons Won't Work?????

Post by muggsy09 »

Ok, I'm having a problem with my Astro Saber III, can't get any of the front buttons to work. I just get a "blank" beep when I press them. Anyone have any ideas. Oh and while I'm here is there any type of sidetone or beep or chirp that can be set to sound when pressing the PTT button in Astro (Digital) conv. mode. Like Talk permit tone or something along those lines, sidetone whatever. Anything to prevent the user from speaking too quickly

Thanks,
Muggsy

Modat? :)

Has your radio been recased recently? There was a known issue with a number of new cases for the Astro Saber where the buttons wouldn't work unless you put a LOT of force on them. I'm not sure, but I would imagine there is an SRN on it somewhere.

Ya could be, there is no labels on the back and the acse does look very new, it's an ebay gem. Everything else works good and I am gettng a tone to sound but it's almost like keypad lock is on but there is no button that i programmed for keypad lock. I don't know.

Modat??? Negative. Just MDC.

Thanks

i could be wrong here, but i would think that if you are getting a beep/bonk when you press the menu buttons that the radio is probablu not programmed corectly. if the case was defective i would think that you would not get any beep at all.

Could also be a hack job codeplug. I have run into some where the buttons are inoperative and need to be assigned properly. Can you pull the s-rec?
