I have a railroad maxtrac d4mja7da5ck 16pin... Does anyone know if it has special firmware or control interface like the railroad Spectra ..or what channels (freq)
c1,2,3-d1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8-f2,3,4,5,6 are...And there is a red button on the side I haven't seen on other maxtracs

I have seen RAILROAD MAXTRAC's but they were the cheap version,but this does not mean there are not other special versions!A picture would be great!I have looked at 3 MAXTRAC's at Asheville,NC yard but they are all 5 pin.Have you powered it up to see if it is a 32 channel?I have seen alot of GM300's that say CONRAIL on them at hamfest's.They are regular 45 watt 16ch version's in very poor condition.Is it inscribed with a RR name?

This radio looks like a reg maxtrac but has a small red button on the side... it is 16 channel... was a UP radio

Perhaps the red button is to an internal encoder used to "beep" the dispatcher. Alot of systems use a single tone, i.e. 2200 cps for this.
