New to Flashcodes ?

Post by cruser635 »

Just received my first XTS 5000 FPP, it is a whole new way of thinking from the MT1000 and GP300s I’m use to. I was wondering if there was a resource available to explain flashcodes and what they do, for example one of the options in my radio is H43/G170 Remote Monitor & Radio Trace. What’s it do, how can I utilize it, how do I tweak it to best serve me?

Thanks

It's of no use to you unless you have a console. Basically, it lets a dispatcher covertly make the radio transmit a carrier to aid direction finding, or to make the radio transmit audio so they can hear what's going on around you.

Speaking of flashcodes,if I add a new flashcode to a radio that is already programed will I have to reprogram it or will the flash upgrade just take with out changing the codeplug.

New flashcodes usually you don't have to reprogram the radio if the radio is actually flashed. Now if you are having a new s-record dumped in the radio. Different story entirely. Might need to reprogram your freq's

What radios do you own?: APX

Wow, another radio with the wonderful Q52 and Q53 at the same time.. Whats even better is that it was shipped with two options that are not supposed to be in the radio together.. Great quality control from the big "M".

If your radio has old firmware, programming it with the latest CPS will not add any new features unless you have the latest firmware to match..

CPS = Customer Programming Software, Not CPS Software.
