He donated it to an unnamed charitable organization. And unfortunately it wasn't me.

The MW800 didn't work for an application I was hooking up that needed a usb 2.0 port. Nothing worked so I had to dump the MW800 and it was sold to a board member here.

Its a Kyocera KR-1 router which is made specifically for several different manufacture's 1xRTT/EVDO pcmcia cards. It has 4 ethernet ports on it and also 802.11b/g.

Works really well.

So in effect you're a wifi access point? Nifty :) How much does Sprints service run per month? Hows the coverage in your area? Looking for something like this....

Yep... I'm doing something similar with a UMTS/EDGE Aircard in my MW800 and a 2.4GHz antenna on the roof. Probably won't have it running for Dayton, but, meh.

Similar unit.

I pay $60/mo. for all-you-can-eat data with Cingular/ATT.

$60/month is about average among cellular carriers these days. My Verizon Wireless 1xRTT/EvDO card it that much. But VZW will only give you that price if you have a calling plan with them as well.

our work fleet has the same thing, 40 odd rigs in one reigon all floating around with secured wireless access points running on them...you should launch something like Netstumbler in the hartford hospital area some time, it goes bezerk.

I may consider looking at something like that for my job. It doesn't come up a lot, but it would be nice having access a little ways from the car on other devices.
