Try writing a completely new codeplug with just a couple
of zones and channels and then load it into the radio. Make
sure the "H" code matches EXACTLY the "H" code for the
radio. If you get asked if you want tuning values from the
codeplug OR tuning values in the radio choose the radio's
values.

The Saber is somewhat unique in that unlike many other
portables you do NOT have to download a codeplug from a
radio to get the RSS cooking. You can start from scratch,
but again, you MUST get the "H" coding correct otherwise
the thing you write won't load. If it's an H44SAK7139CN
radio you have to pick exactly that setup from the RSS to
write your new program, just as an example.

Get back to us on how you do with this.

what does the radio do when you turn it on? or is the rss giving you the errors?

Since you stated the display/memory board is an 8K instead of the 2K board, you can reprogram the radio as its true 8K model definition, but you MUST deselect the OMIT MEMORY-2K memory option in the radio options menu...F4.

That single option cripples ALL memory boards to the 2K level only, so you can no longer program the full 120 channels, not have sectable scan, or even straight scanning as the 2K option restricts scanning to 36, and it does this by blocking off the last 12 channels in a 2K radio, so instead of the 48 channels you started with, once you selected 'scan', you now lost those extra 12 channels.
This channel restriction is caused by the 2K memory board, as it does not have the physical memory to 'scan' channels, it needs the channel space to act as a sratchpad of sorts...that's why you lose the last bank of channels in the 2K(48 mode) radios.

Not so with the 8K board...you should be able to see several 'new' selections on your radio options menu list once you set up the radio as an 8K model.

If secure capable, you have only TWO choices for MDC.....PRE and NONE(disabled).
The non secure radios have three options...PRE/POST/BOTH, and of course...disabled.

Simply create a FRESH codeplug from the OPTIONS menu and begin again.

You may want to build that codeplug and program the radio...but once you see no more than TWO dots show up on the screen, turn OFF the radio...this will corrupt the stored codeplug data already in the radio...so now your FRESH codeplug data should program unrestricted by the previous codeplug.
