XTS2500 Firmware Upgrade Question

Post by RTFireguy »

Ok,

I just bought an XTS2500 UHF R2 Model III.

My question is what is the new Firmware release and how would I go about having the radio flashed?

Is it something i can do myself, or does a it have to go to /\/\?

Also since this radio has FPP, would i get flack from /\/\ ?

Thanks in advance guys.

Latest Host is R09.00.05
Latest DSP is R09.00.02

Host R10.00.00/DSP R10.00.00 is either just released or going to be released shortly. It's been delayed????

With Q52, /\/\ot will probably give ya sh1t about the Flash. If you have Q52 & Q53, then you'll be given less crap from the big /\/\.

Good luck

When read in CPS it states 8 meg. but on service mode it only shows 4 meg,
So I'm thinking the uplift will allow the 8 meg

I'd believe the service mode over what the CPS says any day of the week....

I have seen this before as well, and wondered the same thing.... Oddly enough, I've now seen this happen with an Astro Saber as well, where service says 1MB, the board is a 1MB, but software thinks it's a 512k.

*Shrugs*

So if that is anything to go on, it sounds like don't trust the CPS.

In the astro (non astro25) series there is data stored in the radio which tells the software what size the vocon is. If an incorrect s-rec is pushed in the software will report it as the wrong size. I've seen it many times. I suppose the same is true for the astro25 series. If its hacked the software size may have the incorrect data in it.

I received yesterday 10.00.00 for the XTS2500. Couldn't upload it though because they had the incorrect model # on the dongle...Grrrrrrr! :x

Shouldn't matter unless you have a feature upgrade as well, or they didn't give you a "refresh key."

If your XTS2500 is indeed a 4meg, then firmware R10.00.00 won't fit into the radio. Firmware R10 is larger than 4 meg - bummer

Any radio sent for repair that needs a controller fix comes back 8 Meg
but yeah an upgrade to 10.00 is no go unless you have the 8 meg board

Now that will be a problem because they are 4Meg "A" model radios. I'll have to advise my account manager of that fact before he sends in the ERA.

So how can the average joe order a XTS2500 from /\/\ ?

More so for the 8 meg board.

or is it possible to swap the board out or have it swapped out?

Mainly due to the fact that if i can't get R10 into the radio, I really don't want to be stuck with 240 mandatory personalities. and only 16 chans each zone.

Any help would be great.
