Hi all:
Here is my situation. I have a VHF MT1000 that is currently working. Most of the 99 channels are filled. I am trying to add/change some of them but am having a problem programming. I have RSS R03.00.00, R03.01.00 and R03.01.02 and I get com fault with the F9 menu. I have a new radiostew RIB, new cable from the IBM Think Pad 380ED and a professionally made cable from the RIB to the radio. I have cleaned the contacts on the radio. The battery is brand new in the RIB and measures 9.01 under load. I only have DOS 6.22 on the computer, so should have no conflicts there---I know the computer has a Pentium 166/66 but I have no manual and haven't figured how to access the BIOS to see if anything there needs to be adjusted. I have tried to change from COM1 to COM2 with no joy. Anyone have any ideas? I do not have the software programming manual, so a step by step description would be helpful.
As always, thanks for the inpult.

Re: Programming a MT1000
your computer is way too fast for that radio. i have the same problems with my ibm380z on the mt1000's and the p200's. get an older 286 or 386 and you will be fine.

Re: Programming a MT1000
What's the build date on the latest revision you have? If its built on or after August of '94, the processor speed should be OK. If built before then, your processor is definitely too fast.

Re: Programming a MT1000
Well, two of the three files I have go back to 89 and one to 93. The last file is dated 8/24/94---however, none of them work. I guess the computer I was trying to use was too fast. Does anyone have a computer that might work? It needs to be cheap I can seem to find any on EBAY that are reasonable.
Thanks

Re: Programming a MT1000
Interesting, that last one should be Pentium compatible. I don't have that new a version, so I have never tried it. All I've ever programmed a Genesis series radio with is an old Compaq 25 MHz 80486. You may, indeed, need to find a slower computer. Check with any old, long-established computer shops in your area. You never know what kind of "junk" they may have laying around, and they will usually let that kind of old stuff go for practically nothing.

Re: Programming a MT1000
You can use Mo'Slo ... look here http://www.hpaa.com/moslo/ for down speed of your computer.

Re: Programming a MT1000
Personally, I've never had any luck with Mo'Slo, or any other such program. I wouldn't recommend any such, myself. All those type of programs do is bog the processor down. They don't really slow it down.
