Can someone tell me about an XTL5000 Odyssey, for example: how it differs from XTL5000 W5s.

Cosmetically, it's pretty different.

Having owned/use both, I prefer the O5 because I think it looks neater, and is easer to operate, but that's just my opinoin. I like the display on the O5 better as well because you can choose multiple colors, and it displays more information than the W5 can.

My experience with the O5 control heads is limited, but I will offer two observations:
1. For fleet operators, the fact that programmable button functions are displayed in the display, versus having to order, receive, and install keycaps, can save a huge amount of effort.
2. Second hand, I understand that early versions of the O5 control head suffered from some pretty severe firmware issues, which have since been cured. I'd be sure that I ordered the heads from Motorola as new products.
