Jedi PS mic TX Ripple
I have a jedi PS mic, mdl NMN6243B, connected to a UHF HT1000. I've noticed that, in the TX audio, there is a semi-quiet rippling noise in the backround. I've also noticed that a few of the other radios in our department do this too with the mic attached, but not all of them. Is there a reason or cure for this?

PL or DPL? I've noticed a warbling or rippling sound on many Jedi radios when using DPL, but I don't recall it being related to a public safety mic. Probably something different, but just thought I'd throw that out there.
I just tried my public safety mic on my UHF MTS2000. It's a different model (NMN6228C), but I didn't notice a difference in the TX audio when I talked on the mic versus talking on the internal mic with the external one unplugged.

very common problem with Jedi's, especially if they are older than 2001. There was a SRN out a while back with a "Jedi noise kit" that consisted of some replacement flexes, a new front shield assembly, and associated parts. One thing I have done to earlier Jedi RF boards (especially VHF and UHF) is added a slight bit of solder between the VCO shield cans, this usually quiets the "crackling" sound but the hum/rumbling is usually do to RF feedback into the A/D converter in the audio/signalling ASFICS...will try to dig out the SRN. When were your HT1000's made? fairly common on mid 90's radios from my experience...

Also caused by the incorrect antenna on your PS spkr/mic.
Poor match to the transmitter RF causes RF to get back into the radio as MTS2000des described.

It's a BN revision, R split, IS rated. It's one out of a lot that I recently purchased, and have not tested them all yet to see if it dup's the problem. They were NOS. I'll try to get the serial 123ABC part when I get home.... I think it was AXS but I'm not for sure on that.MTS2000des wrote:very common problem with Jedi's, especially if they are older than 2001. Very common jedi problem and varies from barely there to making the radio sound like total crap. Fixed many with the solder trick before the SRN flex kit came out.
