Motorola DTR410?
I just order a Motorola DTR410 and should be getting another one In a month or two, I'm posting this In the Astro 25 fourm because to the best of my knowledge, these are Apco 25 Vselp radios.
I know nothing about Vselp, does the audio sound digital like my XTS3000 IMBE radio sounds In digital mode?.
Also does anyone have a Code Plug file for the Motorola DTR410 that they can send me?. I have the CPS and was wanting to use the Code Plug file to practice with the CPS so when my radio comes, programming will be a snap.
I read something about when you key these radios up you have to wait for an alert like you would on a trunked system, Is the alert on the DTR410 the same as on Motorola trunked radios, three fast beeps?
Thanks

I tried a pair once at Dayton, they sorta sound like Nextel DC PTT - I'm not sure what codec they use tho.

Not VSELP and definitely not ASTRO, they use 900MHz frequency hopping spread spectrum in the unlicensed ISM band. I think these are essentially high-dollar FRS radios.

Is the voice audio digital and does It sound digital?. Motorola advertise's these radio's as digital, most be some other form of digital voice audio if they are?.Victor Xray wrote:Not VSELP and definitely not ASTRO, they use 900MHz frequency hopping spread spectrum in the unlicensed ISM band. Re: Motorola DTR410?
The RF modulation is digital. FHSS is the same modulation scheme as some cordless phones. Just sounds like a "shhh" on a freq for less than a second.
Re: Motorola DTR410?
The voice is digital, but it's about the best sounding digital I've heard (HDTV spared )...
It definately hops around a lot. I was able to see it on a signal sweeper receiver (IC-9500). Freq counters, Close-call, Signal Stalker are useless for this (not to mention they couldn't decode the audio).
I have a few of these, but don't have CPS or a cable. What info are you looking for? To program a channel, there are two main settings - the channel number (1-10) and the "code" (1-?? (I'll check the value later)). You can set a channel name with a keypad or just leave it as default.
You do have to wait a few ms for the talk permit tone. Your radio has to be within range of at least one other radio with the same channel settings (hence the longer delay for a talk-permit). They are basically a glorified FRS radio. Now if only we could have a repeater for them...

I have the CPS but not a cable yet, just want to play around with the software and get a feel for it. Where can I get the cable at?
Re: Motorola DTR410?
Can anyone advise me of what the alert tone sounds like when to press the PTT button?.

- What radios do you own?: All of them
Re: Motorola DTR410?
IIRC I had a set of 410's and they sounded like a slowed down nextel PTT tone (with 2 beeps). They also beep when you finish talking (like nextel)
