Hello! I have an old, well used VHF Saber I that programs OK, receives OK, but for some reason the PTT (and other side buttons including squelch/monitor) do not seem to work. Is there a single-point failure that would affect all side buttons on the Saber I?
Thanks for your help!

Saber I PTT problem (all side buttons)

Hi Steve,
yes there is a common fault on the saber which I have found that stops the Monitor and Ptt from working, the membrane that geos from the main PCB to the channel Block gets a tare in it near the surface mount resistors on the side were the monitor button is, you can replace this membrane or if you want to fix it on the cheap you gan get out hte multi meter and soldering iron ( some coffe too) and have some fun,
this may not be your problem but pays to check it out
Regards

Those replacement flex circuits are not hard to install and reasonably priced. It's virtually certain that's what you need. I wouldn't even bother trying to repair one when a spare's available. It'll drive you nuts and it won't be reliable.
Flex circuits are a great idea as long as you don't flex them. Ain't that something??
