Help with a GTX900

Post by mcx1000 »

Fist off, I AM NOT ASKING FOR SOFTWARE.

Now with out of the way.

I am not even sure that what I want to try will even work, so here goes.

I have a GTX900 portable that I cannot program with the software that I have, and it's not worth it to me to try and buy it.

What I would like to try is to send it to one of you that has the GTX Lab software. I would then like said person to blank and re-initialize the lb and then send it back to me.

The software I have is GTX/MAX638 Ver. R01.01.00 dated 04/Dec/96.

Now if I am way off track here and it won't work, please let me know.

Thanks in advance!

Hello mcx1000
Im interested in your idea of blanking the GTX900 portable so im asking a few qestions .
What is the model number of your GTX900 portable?
I know they came in LTR tunking and also the Privacy Plus trunking formats.
They also had the 4 and a 10 trunk system portable.
Are you trying to add chanels or change from one trunking format to another ?
What is it you actualy want done by doing the blanking ect ?
I have a GTX800 and id like to possibly change it to conventional only if i could .
Or actualy i wouldnt mind trading the GTX800 for a GTX900 .
Thanks

My GTX900 portable is model #H11WCD4CB1AN. It's not the model with PP or LTR. It's the one best suited for 900MHz ham use.I need it only for conventional channels mainly on simplex and on a couple of amateur repeaters in my area. I just can't program it because it was progammed with a later version than what I have. To the best of my knowledge ( from reading here at BatLabs) if the radio has been programmed with a newer ver. of RSS you can't go back. So that is why I would like to blank the lb and try again with the RSS that I have.

I don't know the answer to your question, but I can tell you that you have a Privacy Plus model that can be made to do up to 15 conventional channels. You will have to have one trunking channel also, which cannot be deleted or hidden. You just have to ignore it.

Hello mcx1000
Yes you are correct = If the GTX900 was programed with a newer version of rss then you can no longer read/program it with an older version.
As to your model number being neigther the Privacy Plus or LTR trunking your mistaken.
The H11WCD4CB1AN from the factory is a 3 watt 900 mhz Privacy Plus 10 trunk system x 8 group trunked modes with 10 conventional channels as it came as new assuming no ones hacked it diferently.
Yes they do make a nice 902 mhz radio for HAM use.
I do know that you could delete all but one trunking and program it for 10 conventional channels as it is now.
True you can blank and reinitiate it with an older version and be able to read/program it again.
Im not sure but i thought there was a discusion on some radios being able to be changed back to an older version by cloning the radio from an older archived reading.
But dont know if this was true for a GTX but worth a try if you had a saved reading in your older program that matched the model number of your GTX.
Just for info it looks like from my MOL account that the newest GTX version as of 5-2007 anyway was R04.00.01 dated 10-13-2000
If you need assistance PM me your phone number and ill see what we can do ect.

H11UCD6CU1AN GTX 10 10 8 800 MHz/LTR
M11WGD4CU1AN GTX 10 10 8 900 MHz/LTR
H11WCD4CU1AN GTX 10 10 8 900 MHz/LTR
M11WGD4CB1AN GTX 10 10 8 900 MHz
H11WCD4CB1AN GTX 10 10 8 900 MHz <<<< My radio
H11UCC6DB1_N* GTX 4 4 3 800 MHz/P-PLUS
H11WCC4DB1_N* GTX 4 4 3 900 MHz/P-PLUS
H11UCC6DU1_N* GTX 4 4 3 800 MHz/LTR
H11WCC4DU1_N* GTX 4 4 3 900 MHz/LTR

The above is from the Batlabs Model Specific Info page. According this chart my radio is niether a PP or LTR. If you guys have information to the contrary, I would like to know where you found it. I am always looking for more sources of info on my beloved /\/\oto gear.

The table is incomplete, but you can follow the pattern. Look at the 9th character. U means LTR, and B means PP.

Either PP or LTR can be easily programmed for the amateur 900 split.

All you need is 'modified' RSS that allows frequencies in the 902 range as well as 927.

Usually, RSS version 04.01.00 works, once it's been edited.

Use hex workshop, it's easy!
