Cannot get radio to program-NO error message-using latest software (from//).No problem w/ VHF,UHF reports 2k mem though seller insists it is a 120 ch radio(8K).Two freq in radio, says 910 bytes used--sounds like too much mem. for 2 ch.Tried a short program(10 chs)-did NOT rec. any error message, everything looked fine, just didn't change anything. I'm up a wall on this--it's not acting like the VHF I am able to program w/ no problem. Is it possibl the omit mem. option was in place whem I got it? My software has no provision to revert to 8K. .Any ideas?? Thanks for any input-I really want to get it going. Rick.
Rick, you are trying to read the radio First to see what it is? If it does a read, then hit F2 to view the info on the radio...Use a slow true Dos computer also! (I know this is basic, but your keywords are cannot get the radio to Program) Let us know if it read the radio? (I've run into some that tried to skip that!) good luck.... Ed

Start with the basics: Recheck to make sure you're following the rules as described in the programming primer. SLOW computer. NO Windows. Run a serial port com test.
Try to read the radio. Make a minor change to the codeplug and put it back in to see if it takes and works.
Refer to the Saber section, model specific information area, at batlabs and follow the instructions to see if that radio actually has a 2K option in it, or if it's 8K.
If it is an 8K radio programmed as a 2K, you
will want to find an OLD version of the RSS, around version 4, that will allow you to de-select the 2K option. (Or so I've heard, I've never actually done it.)
If that doesn't work, crash program it. That's when you program the radio and turn the power off to the RIB or the radio (or yank a plug out) while the RSS is in the middle of programming the CORE. You then have to generate a new codeplug that matches the radio type. Blow that in and it should be fine unless there's actually something wrong with the radio.
