Regular VHF Spectra Issue

Post by bnn121 »

Below is an email I received from a friend that uses a standard VHF dash mount Spectra in his vehicle. I've heard of the issue he is asking me about...but for the life of me I cant seem to come with an answer for him...looking for some solutions.

Every so often my mobile in my truck reads "no emerg" on the display and wont respond to any keys. After a bit it goes back to normal.
Any idea what this means?

It means the emergency jumper isn't connected across the 15 pin D connector. I forget the pinout, but you can locate it on the main site.... but if it's intermittent, then he should check the pins for corrosion, maybe clean then up and also check the wiring in the 'D' plug for a wire that may have come unsoldered.

If the 15 pin plug is OEM, the pins tend to push back out of the housing. Look at the plug for a 'short' pin that is pushed back. They use crimped pins that are supposed to lock into the connector housing.
