Maxtrac priority scan question
I have a Maxtrac that I would like to scan 2 frequencies and lock on the second one (when active) without continuously checking back on the priority channel. It says that channel one must always be a priority scan channel. Any way to get around that? Thanks, Bill
When scanning, you have three options.
There are 3 bars that light up in the 2nd digit.
The top on means that Priority Scan is on. Simply change it so that it doesn't have the top bar on. Changing is done using the select button.
Top bar is for Priority
Middle is for User Scan List
Bottom is for Programmed Scan list.
All 3 get you dual priority, user scan list.

Maxtrac scan lists
You can program a scan list on the fly from the front panel. Just hold down the Scan button for two seconds. Then, go through your channel list and press select for each channel that you want in the scan list. A ' will appear to the left of the channel number.
While you're doing this, you can also select a high-priority channel among the list and a low-priority channel among the list. After you've selected the high channel (and you can do this whenever), hold down Select for two seconds. PRI should flash. Then do the same with the low-priority channel, and PRI should stay lit. When done, just press scan.
If I'm not mistaken, you can dial up any channel, then go into user scan, and that channel will be scanned with the user scan list until you change the channel.
Also, if you begin getting a lot of garbage on a non-priority channel while scanning, hold in Select for two seconds. This will remove the offending channel from the current scan list temporarily, until the radio is powered off or the scan mode is changed.
