Maxar Help?

I have a maxar Model # D24TrA3300BK we are trying to align it for Ham band 444.300mhz The unified chassis # is TUE1373BK Can this be aligned for this Freq. of 444.300?????

The chassis is for normal 450-470 MHz.

I am told that the normal split chassis can make it down to 440 MHz with little trouble.

You will want a copy of the service manual for the radio you have. Motorola has a lot of different manuals for the Maxar/Moxy line. I'm not sure if there is a hamfest coming up soon, but you could check there. It shouldn't cost more then $5. It will cost at least $25 + shipping from Motorola.

You might try begging a 2-way shop for a copy of a manual. Chances are, they probably will give it to you, since it is that old of a radio. A shop I know of doesn't want to bother with crystalled rigs. If it doesn't tune with RSS, then it isn't worth their time to bother fixing it. Some attitude, huh?

Are there crystals in it now? Try checking to see if it works NOW, with the original crystals in, so you don't go batty trying tune a buggy radio.

Yes it did have crystals in it it worked fine.. now we are just trying to realing for ameratuer band I think we just miss read the instructions....

What was the oringinal frequency that the radio operated on? I have found if the radio was tuned and operated in the 450-459 region, it was almost assuredly able to TX and rx in the 440 band. If operated in the 460-470 band, then you would have to find a print on the radio and have to do some re-tuning. MAXAR radio is a great unit and the chassis have been used in the FLEXAR rptrs.

The radio was used in the 460.000 mhz and we have realigned the transmit and tried it before the receiver was aligned we are going to try and align the complete thing then try it.... It will transmit to a HT near by but we tried about a mile away and no luck....

Well, hopefully you have access to a service monitor to do the rest. 1/2 mile ? Do you have a good wattmeter and what type antenna are you using?
I don't have the schematic in front of me and I'll check back with you later.
Nominal output should 35 watts or less.

I don't have access to my Moxy manuals (they are back at my folks place,) but I believe the D24 radios are 15 watts TPO.

ok i stand corrected. Was thinking of the maxar 80's. Got one of those UHF running simplex with a Celwave 6 dB base ant. The baby gets out at least 10 miles by the way the crow flies to mobiles with 1/4 waves.
