Spectra Scanning Question
I have just got my first spectra today and a friend programmed it (hes now on vacation otherwise I would ask him how), but when I hold scan it says SEL MODE, what do I do next to enable scanning?
Re: Spectra Scanning Question
Try a quick press and release of the scan button instead of holding it.TheZach wrote:when I hold scan it says SEL MODE, what do I do next to enable scanning?

Stupidity creates job security!
If your radio has old firmware, programming it with the latest CPS will not add any new features unless you have the latest firmware to match..
CPS = Customer Programming Software, Not CPS Software.

Re: Spectra Scanning Question
Pressing and holding the Scan button enters the Scan Menu. SEL MODE allows you to select the PRI, PRI2, or NPRI with the SEL button that corresponds to the mode you have selected when in SCAN mode.. Then using the MODE scroll thru the modes and use the SEL button to add or delete that mode from the SCAN list, PRI, PRI2 (not flashing) and NPRI. This only works IF OPerator SELect SCAN is programmed in the Spectra.
Pressing the HOME button momentarily exits the SCAN menu. Then press the SCAN momentarily to Scan.

Re: Spectra Scanning Question
When the arrow under the scan button is on it is in scan mode, if it is not scanning make sure the microphone is hung up in a grounded hangup clip, unlike a lot of the other moto mics the spectra ones need the clip grounded.
If there is nothing in the scan list the display will say "no list" when you try to turn on scan.

Re: Spectra Scanning Question
I guess if you had bought it from me off R.R.com it would have had it programmed right.

Typical elitist attitude that batlabs is notorious for. I don't do postal money orders with people - I don't know to many shady correctors.FireCpt809 wrote:I guess if you had bought it from me off R.R.com it would have had it programmed right.
And it is actually programmed right, sorry to knock your elitist attitude down a bit.

Re: Spectra Scanning Question
Well.. Had you read the posting there correctly the first time. I stated that I did not accept Paypal. You then offer to buy the radio and want it programmed. Then I send you the address to where to send the postal MO payment. Your reply ..NO DEAL.
I do not have any kind of attitude. I just call it the way it is.

Re: Spectra Scanning Question
What is ironic is you advertised the same radio here and one other place accepting pay pal, and it originally said you accepted pay pal before you edited it. Go :o on another thread, or go get a tampon to fix your problem.FireCpt809 wrote:Well.. Had you read the posting there correctly the first time. I stated that I did not accept Paypal. Re: Spectra Scanning Question
I would suggest that "The Zach" sell his radio to someone that can actually use it and go buy a YaeKenCom ham radio and learn how to use that, then come back here to actually learn something about using and programming commercial gear properly and intelligently.
IMHO, if you can't program it to do want you want yourself, you probably shouldn't use it. I say this as a ham radio hobbyist that loves /\/\oto gear. My comments do not apply to commercial and public safety users of commercial radio gear.

Do us a favor and go somewhere else for your free advice, folks jumped into help you which was apparently a mistake being you have such a low opinion of this group.RadioSouth wrote:TheZach wrote:Typical elitist attitude that batlabs is notorious for. Alright...lets step it down a notch.
If the programming is now correct, what is the issue, or is it case closed?
