FYI: All who surf Elightbars

Post by vlcano57 »

Hi all,

I just got done emailing a fellow elightbars member discussing the site, and how it has been down, and he forwarded me this email sent by LSH Lights (an administrator of the site). Here it is for those who are members over there

All,

For those of you who are not aware; the ELB server went down several
days ago. The server is located in Houston; therefore repairs are being
delayed due to the hurricane conditions present in that area. We are
hoping to be back in operation Monday, but further delays may be
encountered due to the storm. Please pass this info along to other
members that you may be in contact with.

If you guys would - keep the ELB issues over there...

If there's something we can do to help, feel free to send me a PM.

Regardless, I'll leave this thread open here until ELB is back online, providing the above is followed.

Thanks,

Alex

Just an update. Got an email stating that they tried a server and it failed so they have sent for a new one from Dell. They said hopefully it will be up sometime this week. I am looking forward to it.

What members, there are no posts either? Could this be a spam with some eggs breakfast?
Thanks

Really man? Look at the time stamps. In the message you flamed just over two hours after its posting, you will see that it clearly states "this site was created less than 8 hours from this posting"! I am not suprised that there was very few, if any postings, because NO ONE HAS SEEN IT YET.

Seeing as how the server is now a fishtank ornament somewhere in the gulf, and they probably did NOT magically recreate the ELB SQL database and ship it over to the guys who quick coded the new forums, there will not be any carryover of the old userbase. It's not the same people. People will have to register again, and start up threads from scratch.

All in all you blasted Sean 2 hours and 16 minutes from his posting, declaring his message spam. Give him a break. Sean's been around here a while, and he's been a reliable asset for those who have used him. He made one post to a forum related to the topic @ hand, and has not repeated it since...that hardly makes it spam. And unlike others, he doesn't bump messages q 4 hrs like some people around here do.

I am going to stop now, before terry tells me to shut my hole (which i probably deserve). :-)

Ok, in case the home page hasn't been updated, a good link will be http://www.emergencyvehicles.org/fourms

It is a legit site (I know the owner), and as TBF pointed out, its up, but all the cosmetic stuff hasn't been done yet.

To me, it seems that ELB will be down for quite a bit (and wasn't due to Ike initally) and most of the ELB people will be heading to the new site, not ran by Flake Barr.

So, pass the word. If this thread starts to get out of control, I'll have to open the bottle of thread lock, which I don't like doing.

I've been told by a reliable source that they have 95% of the database restored and are waiting on getting a new server from dell installed. Once that's done it will be back up and online.

Short of that - what everyone else does at whatever other forum is their own thing. I just ask that (as PJ has mentioned) that you don't start flame wars and arguments here over what's better blah blah blah. Do it over yonder...
