XTL5000 Ignition Sense Problem

Post by nozzle75 »

I am having trouble with a Dual Control Head XTL5000 800Mhz W7 head setup. The radio will not power up with ignition sense. All wires are connected properly. In the RSS, it does not give me any other option besides "Tx Inhibit", "PTT Tx Inhibit", and "BLANK". I need it to be set to required. Any ideas?

Thanks!!

Hmmm, are you perhaps trying to run the ignition sense into the rear accessory connector? In dual-head configuration, the XTL doesn't use that ignition sense pin, which is why it's not available in the CPS. You need to hook up the green & orange control head wires to ignition.
No trees were harmed in the posting of this message...however an extraordinarily large number of electrons were horribly inconvenienced.

The Control head cable Green lead should go direct thru a 3A fuse to the battery. The Orange lead is the IGN sense line.

The green and orange wire are connected correctly through the main control head to switched A+.
