Mocom question

Post by moustache »

Mocom Question,

Hello everyone,
I am restoring an old police car and I would like to know if someone can tell me.
On the back of the Mocom head which inputs are the volume input off the harness from the radio transmitter.
I know which two numbers the speaker goes into, but if you could give me the numbers for the other, I would really appreciate it.

Thank you in advance.

I don't want to rain on your parade, but most of the Motrac and Motran conventional heads have low-level volume controls which do not simply connect between an audio line from the radio and the speaker as you might think. In other words, if you are planning to run audio from a scanner or a recorder up to the head and want the volume control to control the volume to the Mocom speaker, it isn't going to work. The volume control in the head has no connection to the speaker line.

To make that work, you will have to rewire the head internally so that the speaker line goes to a 4 or 8 Ohm "pad" type volume control, which you replace the original with, and then run the wires from the pad to the scanner or other audio source.
