93 Chevy Lumina Sedan Inquiries

Post by TheZach »

I just got a 93 Chevy Lumina Sedan - yes its old but it has 70,000 miles on it, no rust and old lady owned previously.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to get a console into this thing? I can get pics of the interior if its useful.

Also does anyone know if theres an ignition sense in the fuse box or will I have to go into the stearing column?
Thanks

So it smells like Vela-mints, dry rot and Virginia Slims? Good luck, so it was "never driven hard or long" as every old-lady story goes, but it went 8 years between oil changes, has rot in the tires, has hit every curb in town, and has autopilot going to Denny's for the early bird special dinner, right?

Its a 15 year old car, i would cram what ever i could fit into it at that rate, chances are you are going to say "money is an issue" at some point, so purchasing anything dir'ectly for it are probably out of the picture, right? Why dont you see what you can get for cheap and see what fits?

If theres not one in the fuse box (fastest way is to get a test light, or a meter - takes 5 seconds), then go to the back of the radio, probably one there. Since i would assume (been wrong before) that you are going to use that ignition sense to switch a relay / solenoid for larger draws, you can scalp off a circuit like that for what you need. I hate steering wheel hacks, more trouble than they are worth.

What is your obsession with the female menstrual cycle? This is twice...

Regarding Phish' post... the first paragraph is what most people refer to as "humor". Perhaps he didn't include enough smiley-faces for you. As for the rest of it, he's right. If you're buying a 1993 Lumina, I doubt you have the money to go out and buy brand new consoles and XTL5000s to drop in there. Go look for a cheap console out of something else and bolt it directly to the floor. He's also correct about the ignition sense (and I don't see why you'd ever want to go to the "stearing column" for ignition sense... maybe for horn ring for siren control, but even that's a bad idea).
