Converting MT1000 to 99 channels?

Post by Sam »

Has anyone converted a 16 channel MT1000 to a 99 channel? I know this has been discussed here before, but the search function turned up nothing and my service manual seems to have disappeared. I have a 16-channel UHF, but 99 would be better, and I want to pick up a 42-50 for six meters. Since there are so many 99 channel lowband models out there cheap, I wondered if I can switch things around. I thought I remembered that the controllers are the same for VHF and UHF, but different for lowband.

With the cost of these radios being so low, I think it'd be more cost efficient to just purchase a 99CH UHF model.

You might want to look for an HT600e.
