DTMF Decode
Hey all,
I was woundering, are there any Motorola Radio's that will do DTMF Decode, I know there are Pagers that will, but I wanted to know if there was a radio that did?
Our ARES group uses a 3 digit DTMF to alert all members, now there are some Ham radio's that do it, and I have a list of them, I was just courious about a /\/\ radio that would. Can someone give me a list of Radio's that will.
I would also like a list of Pagers that will do it. I don't know that much about the pagers so I don't know if they all do it, or just some of them.
OR
What is the Freq. in HZ of the numbers
6 9 7
I might have a different Idea if there is no radio's that will do it.
Thank you,
Kevin

DTMF decode on a Yaesu FT-50.
Wow chief! You flew right past me. My Yaesu FT-50RD will do DTMF decode??? I know I can do DTMF ENCODE (I use the dial pad every day for repeater operations and autopatch), but I didn't know it could do decode. Could you tell me how? -I've been through the owners manual many times and I don't remember it being in there.
I know that the radio has a Tone Search for hunting down a mystery PL/CTCSS tone (the chip is included on all late model FT-50 radios and earlier ones that have the FT11 keypad installed). Is this what you are thinking of? The radio also does Digital Coded Squelch search too in the same style/method as PL search.
Thanks for any info you can offer regarding DTMF decode. God bless,
Fitz Fitzgerald.

I have a factory DTMF DECODER board for a Maratrac radio I am not using.
There are some inexpensive add in/on DTMF decoders from Communications Specialists. I have used them in Maxtracs/Radius mobiles.
http://www.com-spec.com ST809B, $60, PC programable.

Motorola GM300 16 Ch. DECODE/ENCODE
Motorola has different radios for Encode and Decode Dtmf.
The Gm300 16 Ch. mobile will do Encode and Decode.
Some Radius mobiles do it also.

hfitzgerald:
the ft50R*D* will do dtmf paging so it has to decode dtmf's. it even has an answer back if you store a message in the voice memory(you have to split the voice memory in two)
anyway it has to be a D model with FTT12 keypad
on the other hand, did you notice you can not program dtmf dial memory nr.0?
well this is the one in which the radio stores incoming digits if you want to. but you must set it up properly in order to have that.

The following radios will do 12 button DTMF selective signaling decoding.
The Micor, Mitrek, Syntor and Syntor X with the appropriate HLN1024A, TLN1696A or TLN1697A decoder control head addition.
The conventional Syntor X 9000 and probably the trunking Syntor X 9000E with a HLN5146A internal option board. The firmware version on this option board determines if it will send an alert ring to the radio's speaker (hard to find) or if you have to wire up and program the Horn/Lights alarm on the control head (most common type).
The Spectra with a HLN6151A DTMF decoder board, version 5.10 or higher firmware and a code plug that allows DTMF decoding. There could also be a SP version of the HLN6150A board that may have DTMF decoder hardware on it.
