I recently been able to finally program up the GTX handheld I have. Last night, I read the radio, saved it in the archive, then programmed the radio back. I made no edits to the codeplug at all. It worked fine when I keyed up a repeater at that point in time.
This morning, I turned on the radio and it does the self test, then goes to "rot FAIL". I'm not familiar with exactly what that message means (other than its a bad thing). Can please anyone explain what that message means? I could not find an error code list for the GTX...

Re: GTX "rot FAIL" message
"rot FAIL" means the rotary encoder has failed. This is the 8-position knob on top of the radio that selects the system/channel/subfleet (depending on how the radio is programmed). It needs to be replaced, or that area of the circuit is faulty.
