P25 setup problem

Post by radioconsult »

Ok another question on the rocky learning curve. I have a Astro Saber and a Astro Spectra both IMBE P25 that I cannot get to talk to each other; I was wondering if there is a white paper on the correct settings to make them talk. The Spectra will talk to the Saber fine; however the Saber won't talk to the Spectra. The Spectra will act as if the rec is unmuted and the busy light will come on but no audio; of course all works on analog. Never had these problems with Twin V's or Motrac's.

Check the digital squelch settings.

NAC (like PL) must be the same on both radios, or both radios must be set for "digital CSQ", to receive all digital transmissions.

If that's not it, make sure you don't have Astro signaling set up for 'AND' operation. This, however, has never been an issue I've had.

If worse comes to worse, the tuning may be out of whack on the saber. Astro tolerances are pretty tight, so if it's out in left field, it won't talk well to other astro radios except in analog.

Also, make sure ASTRO SEL CALL DECODE is disabled. I had it enabled and couldnt figure out why our astro sabers wouldnt talk to each other unless we called them.
