CDM1250 with a CDM1550 control head?

Post by RonJeremy »

Hi.

I read a few posts about swapping ctrl heads between a CDM1250 and a 1550 but I didn't find a clear answer.

I have a 1550 control head plastic housing with buttons and I was wondering If I can just swap electronics from the 1250 head and get the extra buttons working on the 1250?

I know that a HT1250 with limited keypad can be upgraded to a full keypad radio without any issues. Is it the same for the CDM series?

:-?

Thanks

It will give you a Wrong Head error, though.

I had time to try it.

I put electronics and flex from the 1250 head in the 1550 head housing. It works like the 1250 head. I can't get the extra 1550's buttons to work. No error.

Any bit banging way to enable buttons?

This problem is not easy each model is given a firmware or default pre-program in EEPROM chip ( motorola control)... I recomend not swap control head it may damage the radio.
