Fried SM120

First I cant figure what has happened here but I will try to give as much info I can think of.

Connected rib and cable to 386 then to radio. Started rss, used a 12 volt battery for power supply to radio. Connected radio to power cable then touched one wire to battery and sparks. Took apart radio and smells burt for sure!

Did we toast this radio or is there a fuse that has been blow.

I do have 2 of these models, but am not an expert on them. It sounds like you mixed up the polarity. I don't remember for sure, but take the rig apart, and check for yourself to see if there is a fuse.

Looked for fuses but probably not the fuse I am used to, checked the battery to see if maybe it had been charged backwards but everything is ok there.

For sure polarity was wrong but hate the thought of the radio being toast
