GTX mike work in a MCS 2000?
A friend of mine picked up a 900 mhz MCS 2000 model 1 at Dayton for ham use & only got around to programming & trying it today. The tx audio was very weak, even after trying to increase the mike gain using CPS. He tried a few GTX mikes. The 1st didn't work at all, & the 2nd would tx, but had a bad hum. Does a GTX mike work in a MCS 2000 & visa versa? GARY N4KVE

Did you check your CPS default? ( Type of Mic)

It's not my radio, but I'll ask my friend whose having the problem. What are the choices of mikes to choose? GARY N4KVEjims123 wrote:Did you check your CPS default? ( Type of Mic)

It depends on what type of mic you mean by "GTX" mic. The older HMN1056/1035 grey mics work fine in the MCS. I find the newer HMN3000 black mics don't sound very good with the MCS. The MCS does have it's 'own' standard mic, part# HMN4069, I believe. There are also various keypad mics for it which don't work in the GTX at all, but I don't have the numbers for those off-hand.

Thanks, I have one of those gray Mikes you mentioned. I'll give it to him to try. I don't know which one he was using. GARY N4KVE
