XTS5000: Fail 001 ?

Post by W2WP »

I know what it is/means but my question is has anyone ever had this pop up for one or two hours and then never happen again?
Is this just letting me know that soon I will have the Fail 001 error for good if I do not have it fixed?
Inquiring minds want to know! :)

Give us some specifics of the 5000 in question.. Bandsplit, Firmware, etc...

Stupidity creates job security!

If your radio has old firmware, programming it with the latest CPS will not add any new features unless you have the latest firmware to match..

CPS = Customer Programming Software, Not CPS Software.

out of lock.
Kilgore: Smell that? You smell that?
Lance: What?
Kilgore: Napalm, son. Nothing in the world smells like that.
Kilgore: I love the smell of napalm in the morning. You know, one time we had a hill bombed, for 12 hours. When it was all over, I walked up. We didn't find one of 'em, not one stinkin' dink body. The smell, you know that gasoline smell, the whole hill. Smelled like... victory. Someday this war's gonna end...

VCO cant lock. can be temperature related if you've pushed it out of band and you're on the edges.

Sorry for the delay in getting back. Info on the radio is as follows:
2007 Serial Number
Host: 12.00.03
DSP: 12.00.07
All tags match/included

Q806 ASTRO Digital Operation
H14 Enhanced Digital ID Display
Q52 Federal Government FPP
H869 Hardware Multikey Encryption
H35 Conventional Systems Operation
G857 FDNY Emergency Rx/Tx Tone Set
Q53 FCC FPP And Radio Cloning
Q387 Conventional Voting Scan
Q445 Fireground Accountability Software
Q446 Channel Announcement
Q667 ADP Encryption Software DSP Based Only

The funny thing is after this happened a few times over the course of 2 hours, it has never happened again even with daily use. There is nothing OOB programmed into the radio and when it did occur, there were no unusual temp issues.

More than likely a part going bad, or a bad solder connection. When intermittant like that, temp hot/cold plays a large role.
