MTS2000 programming

Post by Mike 701 »

I have heard that the MTS2000's are very "fragile" radios in a firmware sense. I know this is broad, but when programming, is there certain things I should stray away from? I am using R6.05.00, the radio was previosuly programmed with 6.0. The only no-no I have heard so far is stay away from lab rss, anything else?

Thanks,
Mike

Nope, no problems with regular RSS at all. This is providing you take the usual precautions such as ensuring you use quality RIB & cables, fresh battery or power supply (or both) for the RIB, proper computer programming platform, etc. Do your best to ensure the programming does not get interuppted during the "write" cycle, and you're golden.

As of the moment, you have a choice of programming an MTS2000 using the last version of the DOS RSS or one of the Windows versions. There are horror stories of the Windows versions locking up radios that Motorola then had to replace (after some period of being out of service). For the systems for which I have responsibilty, we limit ourselves to the DOS RSS.
