MCS2000 Programming Problem

Post by Kearns374 »

Hi all.

I have an MCS2000 III VHF that I want to program. I sent it to a mate who has all the gear and he said that he couldn’t read it with CPS. Comes up with "Error reading from image when attempting to unpack block radio wide." He tried RSS and it said the codeplug was too new. We don't have a saved codeplug as I have just bought the radio second-hand.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers.

Yep, the CPS error indicates his version is too old...the CPS errors don't spell it out the same as the RSS does. You need a newer version of CPS. Latest version is 2.02.00, I believe.

Hi Todd. Thanks for that, how would I go about purchasing MCS\MTS CPS here in Australia? I've heard Motorola won't sell any software to individuals even if they are willing to sign the agreement and pay the price.

Cheers.

What radios do you own?: HT1550's, X9000's, CDM1550's

if i'm not mistaken, if you can find a codeplug from another radio with the same model number and flash that hasn't been used with cps and open it up in rss and just write it to the radio and you should be in business.

I never check PM's so don't bother, just email me.
I won't reply to a hotmail, gmail, aol or any other generic free address, if you want me to reply use a real address.
STOP ASKING ME FOR SOFTWARE OR FIRMWARE, I JUST FORWARD ALL OF THE REQUESTS TO THE MODERATORS

I don't know how Motorola runs things down under, but I don't recall hearing that. Perhaps one of our Aussie members can enlighten us on that point.

As HLA mentions, if you can find a codeplug with an identical model number & flashcode that opens in an earlier RSS/CPS, you can clone it in & you'll be good to go.

Thanks for the replies. I had thought about trying to find another codeplug but I'm still going to need the software for an MTS2000 aswell. I believe Motorola sell the MCS/MTS software as a package so if anyone from AUS could advise me on how to go about purchasing this, that would be great.

Cheers.

Hello,

If you contact Motorola directly in Australia they will assist you.
I'm not sure how we go about the on-line scenario the US guys use, but big /\/\ sell the software direct to the public in AU.
I just purchased some for XTL/XTS. It was a touch under AU$200.00 (incl GST).

Just a side question but how does that rate with the US cost?
