Problem with CDM mobile

Post by Jay G. »

Hello all!

Radio: Remote mounted CDM1550ls+ UHF in my van for last 2 yrs.

Here's my issue. Last few days my radio wont shut itself off when i turn my truck off. It turns on with IGN but wont turn off. it already killed my battery in my truck twice until i realized what was going on.

Any ideas??

Thanks to all!!!

thanks!

I guess the first question to ask is has the radio had any software changes recently?

Second, have you made any electrical changes to the vehicle recently?

Third, have you had a jump start or tried jumping another vehicle recently?

You may also want to check the voltage to the radio. I have seen problems with CDMs where, when the supply voltage is on the low side, they decide to stay on, even when the ignition sense line loses power.

I would also check the ignition sense lead to ensure 'OFF' means 'OFF' and just brown-out type off, where you have a lower, constant voltage applied.

Try Humhead's suggestion on the main B+ and see if you have supply issues, faulty fuse or poor connection someplace.

Chances are the ignition sense circuit IC is hosed. This will require a trip to Motorola.

+1 undervoltage situation...especially if it's already smoked your battery twice.
