XTS3000 Rebanding

Post by rileym »

I am having an issue re-banding my XTS3000. Firmware is re-bandable, but the channel spacing only lets me select 25khz or 12.5 khz, not 20khz, as was selectable in the spot for the "old" NPSPAC band. The codeplug has the "rebandable" softbox checked permanently. Is this a CPS issue? Or something else?

If you're talking about the Trunk System > Advanced > Channel Bandwidth setting, it's most likely a CPS limitation (20.0 kHz is present in MTS/MCS and Astro25, but not Astro). You should be fine setting it at 25.0 kHz as opposed to 20.0 kHz.

Escomm, I will check on the versions when I get home this afternoon.

Akardam, the field you mentioned is exactly the one I am working on. I have found that when I attempt to use 25khz that I am missing some of the traffic, and on both of my radios. The radio displays the active channel, but sounds small segments of carrier only with no sound. Since both radios do it, I am thinking it is not a tuning issue?

Well, there's hundreds of thousands of XTS3000's and Astro Spectras out there, so I would imagine if this was a real issue they would have experienced, found, and fixed it by now.

Channel Bandwidth should have no impact on how your radio receives. You mention two radios with the same issue. If they are both of the same vintage and/or were both last serviced using the same test equipment, that could very well account for the sameness. Have the radios run through a complete alignment with certified calibrated test equipment before going further.
